Although Taiko does not currently have a token of its own, it has indicated that it is the process of launching one soon, named "TKO.”
Taiko is a general-purpose ZK-Rollup and decentralized ZK-EVM that is comparable to Ethereum. Its goal is to enable the unmodified use of dApps created for Ethereum L1 by developers and consumers on Taiko. Because L2 inherits Ethereum's security and has lower transaction fees than L1, dApps can be deployed to L2 with ease.
Taiko's development was dubbed a "Fascinating Work" by Vitalik Buterin. As a Type-1 ZK-EVM, Taiko places more importance on flawless EVM/Ethereum equivalency than ZK-proof generation speed.
